“I’ll be ready to go”: Mitchell Starc says if considered at Lords against the host

Aussie fast bowler Mitchell Starc has confirmed that he is ready to go the second test against England at Lords beginning on Wednesday, June 28 if he is selected. The fast seamer was dropped in the first test as the selectors gave preference to form Scot Boland.

However, he is considered to be a strong case for selection in the second test as Australian management has given some strong hints in favor of him because Lords is considered to be a suitable surface for the bowlers.

Looking too sanguine about his selection in the second test against the arch opponent, Mitchell Starc said about his non-selection in the opening battle that he is used to visiting England and it is the job of the selectors to decide who is a better option for the team.

He further added that he has been dropped many times, perhaps he is the person who has been dropped from the team more than anybody else and therefore it is not a new thing for him to be dropped. He will join the team very soon.

In reply to a question about his selection in the second test, the seamer told that he has not been given a hint from the Australian management in this regard and his guess about the selection is as good as a common man’s until the selectors announce the team for Lord test.

Mitchell Starc further opined that he has different skills that will prove to be fit in this bowling attack and therefore if he is given a chance in the upcoming battle, he will be ready to play an important part and strengthen the bowling attack. But if he is not considered fit for the second test, he will leave no stone unturned to be selected for the Headingley test.

Moreover, Mitchell Starc stated that he is happy with his bowling rhythm and he is anxiously waiting for the same game time. The 33-year-old fast bowler added that he was very happy but his bowling rhythm was not up to the mark in Edgbaston. But after a couple of weeks, he considered himself fit because he has got his bowling rhythm.

He said that after winning the World Test Championship final, the Australian team was confident enough to play good cricket against the arch-rival. He added that whenever he plays for the team, better things appear that help him to be more confident and to play good cricket.

Mitchell Starc is considered to be a savior in view of the aggressive approach of England. In reply to a question about the aggression of the English team, he said that the Australian team will execute their plans without considering what the opponent try to do.

He further said that the English team has been playing aggressive cricket over the years and one has to face the reaction while bowling or batting against this aggressive attitude. The fast bowler differs with the opinion to play aggressive cricket against the aggressive side.

He said that test cricket should not be changed into one-day cricket and one has to stick with the plans as they did in the previous game. He concluded that the Australian team will be a more successful team than England at the end of the series.
