Pakistan demolished Sri Lanka by an inning and 222 runs to secure a comprehensive win and complete a clean sweep in the series.

 Nouman Ali was the pick of the bowler whose career-best bowling wrapped up Sri Lanka on just 188 on Thursday. 

Naseem Shah also added insult to injury as the host had to suffer the worst-ever defeat at home.

The match was sealed in the first three days when Pakistan declared the first inning on 576 for 5 with the help of a double ton from Abdullah Shafiq and a superb knock from Salman Ali Agha.

Remember that Pakistan blew away Sri Lanka by 166 within two sessions on the opening day. 

Pakistan secured a huge lead of 410 runs, putting Sri Lanka under huge pressure. Pakistan wrapped up the host with the help of Noman Ali’s best figures in just four days.

Noman’s deliveries proved to be a challenge and he brought a breakthrough at the right time. He surprised Nishan Madushka

on his very first ball of the fourth day and continued his best bowling after lunch.

Earlier, Salman Ali Agha and Muhammad Rizwan resumed their inning but when Rizwan completed his half-century, Pakistani Skipper Babar Azam decided to declare the inning on 576 for 5.

Sri Lankan Openers Dimuth Karunaratne and Nishan Madushka began their second inning with a deficit of 410 runs but they started the inning fluently, scoring 69 in 18 overs without any loss.

At this stage, Babar Azam introduced Noman Ali who got the breakthrough on his first ball of the day by surprising Madushka. 

Sri Lanka secured 81 runs for 1 at the lunch break. 

After lunch, Pakistan got a massive breakthrough when Sri Lankan skipper Dimuth Karunaratne after scoring 41 runs fell prey to Noman Ali. Imam ul Haq took the brilliant catch.

After some time, Kusal Mendis and Dinesh Chandimal had to bow down before Noman. Then Dhananjaya De Silva joined Angelo Mathews.

De Silva and Mathews tried to build a partnership but De Silva lost his wicket for 10 in an attempt to play over long-on.

Ramesh Mendis showed some resistance to Mathews but was stumped by Noman.

Naseem Shah who was bowling with superb pace on the other hand, missing out on a couple of close calls finally created havoc by taking two wickets in one over and Pakistan demolished Sri Lanka by an inning and 222 runs.

Abdullah Shafiq won the man of the match award for his outstanding double ton and Salman Ali Agha was declared Man of the series for his magnificent performance in the series.

Pakistani skipper Babar Azam who was over the moon said that it is a proud moment for him to beat Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. He gave credit to all the players and supporting staff for moving heaven and earth.

Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne said that being blown away on 160 was the turning point of the match and they could not compose things well.
