Pakistan Hockey Federation announced the squad for Asian Champions Trophy starting on August 3 in Chennai, India. 

The announcement was made by the Chairman of the National Selection Committee Kaleemullah Khan after being approved by Pakistan Hockey Federation President Khalid Sajjad Khokhar. 

According to the Chairman National Selection Committee, the 18  with seven stand-by players have been finalized after two days of trials. 

Umar Bhutta will be the caption of the National Hockey team and Abdul Waheed has been named as the vice-caption for the showcase tournament.

Akmal Hussain, Abdullah Isshtiaq Khan, Muhammad Abdullah, Muhammad Sufyan Khan, Ehtisham Aslam, Osama Bashir, Aqeel Ahmed, Arshad Liaqat, Muhammad Imad, Abdul Hanan Shahid, Zakaria Hayat, Rana Abdul Waheed Ashraf, Muhammad Umar Bhutta, Roman, Muhammad Murtaza Yaqub, Muhammad Shahzaib Khan, Afraz and Abdul Rehman will represent Pakistan Hockey Team in Asian Champions Trophy

 Ali Raza, Muhammad Baqir, Muhammad Nadeem Khan, Abdul Wahab, Waqar Ali, Muhammad Arslan, and Abdul Qayyum have been named as stand-by players. 

Remember that the Asian Hockey Federation announced the schedule of the Asian Champions Trophy in June 2023.

According to the announcement, the six teams will play against one another from August 3 to 12 in India.

The opening match of the tournament will be played between Korea and Japan. The host India will take on China in the third game of the opening day.

The teams that will participate in the tournament are Pakistan, China, India, Korea, Malaysia, and Japan. All the teams have been kept in one pool and a League System will decide the positions on the Points table.

Pakistan will start its journey against Malaysia in the opening match on August 3. It will take on Korea on August 4, Japan on August 6, and China on August 7.

Pakistan will play its last pool match against arch-rival India on August 9. The final will be played on August 12. 

Remember the fact that Pakistan and India have been winning this tournament three times each since its beginning in 2012. Korea is the only team other than Pakistan and India that won the previous edition and is the defending Champion.
