India had an edge over the host because Ireland never clinched a victory over the visitors in the T20 format. It was a great chance for Rinku Singh and Prasidh Krishna to showcase their talent who were making their T20 Debut.

Also, it was a great opportunity for Jasprit Bumrah who was also making his comeback after almost one year.

Ireland started the proceedings horribly when Balbirnie and Lorcan Tucker had to go back to the pavilion in the very first over. The skipper made his comeback memorable.

Arshdeep also bowled well on the other end but could not get a wicket early.

Paul Stirling and Tactor tried to manage things in favor of their team and hit a few lovely boundaries but the Indian skipper introduced debutant Krishna and he bagged his maiden T20 wicket in the first over of his T20 career.

The powerplay proved to be a nightmare for Ireland as Ravi Bishnoi got the important wicket of the Irish skipper. After the completion of the powerplay, Ireland scored 30 for 4.

After some time, Ravi Bishnoi added insult to injury by securing a second wicket. Half of the team had gone to the pavilion with 35 on the scoreboard.

The next pair tried hard to compose the situation by hitting a few boundaries but Ravi Bishnoi did not allow them to gain the right momentum and secured the third wicket on Debut.

Barry McCarthy took a violent start by hitting a huge hit for six.. He along with Campher played sensible cricket at the difficult time.

When Ireland crossed 100, both the players had built 50 runs partnership.

At this time, Arshdeep bowled superbly. He not only took the important wicket of Campher but also gave only two runs in the over.

McCarthy hit the ball for maximum in the last over and bagged 15 runs as Ireland set a target of 140 runs.

McCarthy batted superbly on number seven, scored 51 runs not out, and helped his team set a respectable target in the first T20. He was supported well by Campher who added 39 crucial runs.

Jasprit Bumrah, Ravi Bishnoi, and Debutant Prasidh Krishna bowled with a good line and took two wickets each.

In reply, Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal took a violent start and bagged 10 runs in the first over with two boundaries.

In the next over, Ireland missed an important opportunity to run out when both the openers ran toward the same end.

Ireland tried to tighten things for India and gave only five runs in the next two overs.

After taking things cautiously, Indian openers tried to open their arms and hit a few shorts for boundaries. They were 45 runs without loss on the completion of the powerplay.

But then the Irish pacer Craig Young took two wickets in two balls, first Jaiswal and then Tilak Verma.

At the same time, rain halted the play and the match could not start again. India was just two runs ahead and beat Ireland by 2 runs.
